Alan Turing

Alan Turing was an English mathematician and computer scientist. He was born on June 23, 1912, and died on June 7, 1954. Although his life was short lived, he left a legacy that is vital to today's society. Alan Turing's first invention was the universal Turing machine. It was a machine that could perform any mathematical operation, and this machine became the foundation for all modern computers. He is a revolutionary in the mathematical field. Turing is mostly known for the Bombe(which cracked the German Enigma Code), or the Turing Test, (which was an experiment to see whether computers could replicate human intelligence). He made major contributions to mathematics, cryptanalysis, philosophy and biology. He has also made contributions to newer areas of studies such as computer science, artificial intelligence, and artificial life.
